きしめんの名の由来には､｢雉の肉をいれて食べたことから｣とか｢紀州(和歌山県)から伝わって食べられていたので｣などの諸説がよく聞かれますが、宮きしめんには､｢熱田神宮の御師キシ某が好んだので｣という説も伝わっております｡
今も､熱田神宮の西門近くの休憩所では｢宮きしめん｣が提供され､参拝者の方の宮まいりの思い出をよりいっそう､味わい深いものにしています｡
